A raft of US data, including the key monthly jobs report, global November PMIs, and speeches by several U.S. Federal Reserve officials, dominates this week’s calendar. Meanwhile, President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff threats continue to influence markets.
Key Data and Event to watch this week – US Jobs, Fed Talks, Global PMIs
US
The major event will be U.S. jobs data on Friday, which will shape Fed rate cut expectations; The economist expect to increase by 202k non-farm payrolls in November from 12K and the unemployment rate holding at 4.2% minor increase from the 4.1%.
It will be a busy week for U.S. markets, led by ISM manufacturing and non-manufacturing PMIs, JOLTS job openings, ADP jobs data, factory orders, trade, the Fed’s Beige Book, final S&P Global PMIs, weekly jobless claims, and University of Michigan consumer sentiment and inflation expectations.
There are at least seven Fed officials scheduled to speak but the highlight will be Chair Jerome Powell’s interview with the New York Times on Wednesday.
Eurozone
Euro zone event risk includes final November PMIs on Monday, retail sales on Thursday, and final Q3 GDP and German industrial production on Friday.
European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde speaks on Wednesday.
UK
A light week for UK data with final November PMIs the key release. Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey and MPC member Megan Greene speak at a Financial Times event on Thursday.
Japan
A low-key week for tier-one Japanese data, with final PMI on Monday, household spending and overtime pay due on Friday.
The Bank of Japan’s Toyoaki Nakamura will speak to business leaders on Thursday.
