Nifty’s Technical View
The Nifty index consolidated in a range for most of the day on the weekly expiry session. However, it saw a sharp rise after 2 p.m., gaining over 450 points in an hour and closing above 25300. This formed a “Rising Wedge” pattern on the daily chart, with the index testing its higher end. A break above Thursday’s high could lead to further gains, targeting 25490 and 25690. On the downside, the immediate support is now at 25150-25100.
India Vix
The India VIX, a measure of market volatility, experienced a Down of 3.27%, closing at 13.18. This drop signals a reduction in market volatility.
Put-Call Ratio
The PCR shifts to 1.08 from 0.88 in the previous session. A PCR above 0.7 or approaching 1 generally indicates bullish sentiment, while a ratio below 0.7 or moving towards 0.5 signals a bearish trend.

IRCTC: Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has raised its shareholding in Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to approximately 9.3 percent, as revealed in a regulatory filing on Thursday. LIC’s stake in the railway sector ‘miniratna’ PSU increased by 2.02 percent between December 16, 2022, and September 11, 2024, through open market purchases. The insurer now holds 7,43,79,924 shares, up from 5,82,22,948 shares, marking a rise from 7.28 percent to 9.30 percent of IRCTC’s paid-up capital.
Hindalco: Birla Estates, the real estate arm of Aditya Birla Group’s Century Textiles, through its subsidiary Ekamaya Property, has completed the acquisition of a 24.5-acre land parcel in Kalwa, Thane, for ₹537.42 crore. The land was sold by Hindalco Industries, another firm under the Aditya Birla Group. Hindalco had announced the land sale in July after receiving board approval last year.

In FY 2024, reported a 1.6 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) dip in consolidated net profit for the first quarter of financial year 2024-25 (Q1FY25) at Rs 236 crore, down from Rs 240 crore recorded for the same period last year. According to data posted on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Max’s revenue from operations rose to Rs 1,543 crore, a 20 per cent Y-o-Y increase from Rs 1,285 crore reported in Q1FY24.
